Sorry it has been a while since we sent out a newsletter.

We have started the RFQ (request for qualifications) for several projects throughout the county. It will affect all members of our sewer district. With this we will choose an engineering firm to work with us on 4 different projects throughout the county. Stay tuned for more information (or watch for activity in your area).

It seems like every time we send out the newsletter, there is so much going on at the sewer district. First and foremost, we have sent notice for RFQ (request for qualifications) for engineering firms for 4 projects throughout the county. Millersburg is the biggest project; the plan is to connect those that are interested from North of I70 all the way to Millersburg town. Remember this is a multiyear project and we are still working to secure a plant site. This will be a multimilliondollar project but will sewer much of the western area of the county that has not had centralized septic. We are also working on the South Fulton project, getting several systems connected together and creating one point of discharge. We also have plans for Highview and Christopher #3 subdivision to remove their lagoon systems. We are also working with a school district to remove their lagoon systems. We are working with our local Stimulus money committee, requesting funds to help support this effort. The less money we have to borrow, the less your septic cost will be.

What are we doing right now?
Right now, we are looking at our insurance and are out for quote, we have had several insurance companies request information. This is something the board has decided to do yearly for now.

The Callaway County Sewer District provides safe, efficient, cost effective wastewater treatment management and water protection services to protect public health and the environment today and into the future.

RFQs are due to our office no later than July 30, 2021 at 11 am. The board will then be tasked with reviewing and interviewing the candidates.

We are also talking to people about easements and will start asking for signatures in the near future. Remember when the easement is signed, it will need to be notarized and we are working on setting up a meeting place to have people sign and notarize to make it most convenient for our customers. If you have any questions about this, please call our office.

Kent and Mylene are in and out of the office lately. If you are planning to come over, please call to make sure we are going to be there. You can also drop your payment off in the drop slot at the overhead door on the east side of our building or mail it to our office. Please make sure your payment is being sent to the correct address, we have been in this building for 1 year now and are still getting mail redirected.

And as always if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us by phone, e-mail or attending the meeting, where we always have a time for public comments. Our meetings are held on the 1st Thursday of each month at Callaway County Sewer district at 6pm. Our August meeting will be August 12th so we have time to review the engineering candidates prior to the meeting.

Effective January 1, 2022, we will change our billing to reflect your actual water usage. There will be a base rate charge for each connection and then a per 1,000 gallon charge based on your actual water bill, using the data from December, January, and February (we won’t capture when you wash your car, water your lawn/garden or fill your pool).
